I booked a river-view suite, but when we got to the room there was no river view. My wife wanted the view since we'd paid for it. They moved us to a room with one, but it wasn't a suite, so it was tiny for my wife, our two teenagers, and me. We brought our small 13 kb Westie and left him at a Rover while we went to a concert. We picked him up afterward and spent less than 12 hours with him in the room. The hotel allows dogs but charged us $150 for that stay. Other Marriott's VERY close by charge $50 or $0. Parking in the tiny garage was another $30. I've been a loyal Marriott member for years, but I'd NEVER stay here again. Go to another nearby Marriott, or somewhere else where customer service and integrity matter.
The extra charge after checkout left a bad taste. The day after I left, I got an email saying my card had been charged for unspecified “sundries.” I hadn't taken anything from the goods by the front desk or used the room's expensive ($6!!!) bottles of water. Something seems fishy, so watch for extra charges. The property itself was clean and well kept. Check-in was efficient and polite, the room was in good order, and breakfast had enough for the price range. I've never seen a better assortment of oatmeal add-ons. That charge still cost it a star.
We booked a king bed but got a queen instead, and we need the space when we sleep. They did give us a room with a riverside view and high ceilings, which was nice. The front desk passed along the assistant GM's business card. I emailed right away and am waiting to hear back. I'll update this if the issue gets fixed.
I'd give this hotel 0 stars. I wouldn't recommend it to grand loyalty Marriott members, senior citizens, or families with a special-needs family member. My family got the worst customer service I've ever had at a hotel. My dad, a Marriott grand loyalty member for over 40 years and a frequent visitor to Milwaukee, WI, booked a suite for my mom's birthday weekend, 10/17/2025-10/18/2025. After we checked in, he politely asked Alex at the front desk whether parking could be comped. She immediately got an attitude and said no. He accepted that, but said he didn't understand because nobody had told him there was a policy against it. He'd received comps and upgrades at other Marriott hotels just by asking, and he thought there was nothing wrong with asking. At 8am the next morning, he asked Priscilla at the desk the same question while he was going to the lobby for breakfast. She got livid and tried to start an argument, though he'd only asked. He said he was done talking and walked away. As he left, she leaned over the desk yelling that he'd have to pay for parking. He came back and said it was no problem for him to pay, but she got more upset, said she was canceling our room, and threatened to call police to remove him if he didn't leave. My mom tried to talk with Priscilla, but Dad told her to stop and said we were leaving. Priscilla threatened to call 911 again. Dad came upstairs upset and disappointed, woke my brother and me, and told us to pack. My parents and I had to hurry to help my brother, who is Autustic, lower level and non-verbal, and relies on routine. He was having a hard time gathering his things. Thankfully, he didn't have a mini episode from being rushed so abruptly. We took the stairs to the garage because it seemed like the hotel might have been messing with the elevator, which wouldn't let us go down to the lobby. Near the door to the garage, Priscilla came around the corner as if she was about to say something. Another customer and their huge dog were in the way, so she turned around and went back to her desk. Thank goodness we got out quickly because my brother is very afraid of dogs. I hope Marriott sees this. My parents are both seniors, and my dad deserved better after 40 years as a grand loyalty member and many visits to Milwaukee. Are comps and upgrades a thing of the past? If so, tell grand loyalty members not to ask, so they'll know.
The hotel has beautiful, spacious rooms, nice views, and a great location. I'm giving it 3 stars because of the staff and a ridiculously complicated parking process. I checked in around 4:00pm on Saturday, an hour after the 3:00pm check-in time. I wasn't asking for anything, but the desk lady seemed VERY annoyed to speak with me, or maybe just to be at work. I was friendly without making a fuss. You have to ask about parking at check-in. The garage is understandable downtown, but I had to scan a QR code they texted me to get in. That leaves you out of luck if you want to park before checking in. When I left, I handed my keycard to a different front desk worker, who only asked which room I'd been in. There were no signs to the garage elevator, and so many possible ways to go that I first found the wrong elevators. They didn't work, so I called the desk from a distance away. That's when I learned they were the wrong ones. I found another elevator set, but those didn't work either. The same woman who'd just taken my keycards told me I needed one to use it. I reminded her I'd just returned them. She said to ask the security guard, but there wasn't one. I went back to the desk for another keycard and asked what to do with it afterward. She said there was a dropbox when I got off in the garage. The keycard didn't work with the first scanner, so I tried the less obvious second one and got it to work. There was no dropbox at the garage elevator, so I kept the card, thinking I might need it to exit. At the hotel exit, though, the scanner wanted yesterday's QR code instead. I usually delete texts like that, and nobody had told me I needed the code to leave. The dropbox was next to the scanner, but I didn't need the keycard to exit after all. The whole thing was pointlessly complicated, and the staff gave no guidance. I'm sure I'm not the first person to have this problem. Edited only to correct typos.
