Travelodge by Wyndham Milwaukee

The staff are super kind, and housekeeping is on top of things. My sister and I have been staying here for a while, and it's great that they accommodate our cats. The prices are reasonable, and our room is spacious with everything we need. The cats are happy too. We like this place and recommend it for travel.

This wasn't at all as advertised. There was no airport shuttle, and the restaurant kept very odd hours. I was told breakfast would be available at 0800, but it wasn't. My first room had a sliding door that wouldn't close, and I only happened to find that out by checking. It almost seemed like they knew and were covering it up. The heat was turned way up when I entered, which felt cozy at first, but something seemed off. There was also a lot of traffic noise, like being next to a highway even though the hotel isn't. Would I stay here again? Hell no.

The gentleman who checked me in was wonderful and made me feel valued as a Gold member. The management experience was completely different. Before my stay, I was told there'd be no incidental fee, but at the property they said otherwise, even though I was using points for a free stay. I didn't have the money for it right then, and the managers were heartless about that. One asked whether I had $60, then $40. The other said the system wouldn't allow them to waive it, but I worked in hospitality for 15 years and have used Opera, Fosse, Lightspeed, OnQ, and other systems. You can override a fee to give a guest a good experience. It shouldn't happen every time, but sometimes that gesture matters. Also, the first manager offered different amounts, so why say it couldn't be waived? The agent had already told me they'd waived it for someone the week before and got in trouble, so they wanted to check with management. They only put this incidental hold on Milwaukee County residents. The tub wasn't properly clean, there was hair on the towels, and the WiFi kept disconnecting every five seconds even though I was on Wyndham Rewards WiFi. This property doesn't represent the Wyndham brand well. I wouldn't recommend it to a person I hate.

The door wouldn't lock, the hair dryer was broken, and the toilet clogged. They told us to try clearing it ourselves. When we couldn't, they said a room change wasn't possible and we'd have to wait two hours for someone to arrive. Meanwhile, the lobby bathroom was disgusting, with toilets full of pee. After that, they moved us to a room too small for five people, with only four pillows. The room clearly wasn't set up for five. The front desk said we could use both connected rooms, so we did. But at 12:30 a.m. security knocked, and at 1 a.m. the manager made us leave one room unless we paid for both. We wouldn't have used both if the desk hadn't said it was okay. The manager said, "there are families down there with 8 people that are fitting in a room," and then told us, "my dad passed away two weeks ago and I still show up to work." Now my whole family was awake, one of us curled at the end of a bed trying to sleep, while the room next door sat empty. After this awful stay, I contacted management and the booking site, as the company had suggested in its comment. Travelodge chose not to resolve anything or refund us. The booking site gave us $11 in travel credits because it couldn't reach an agreement with Travelodge. The comment said they were sorry and to contact management, but doing that didn't make us feel any better. I'd like to take this review down, but at this point it's the only accountability.
