La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Minot

We felt we got good value for the price, and the hotel still has a new look. Our room and the service were great. There's a grocery store and fast food nearby.

Breakfast was a mess from the start. At 6:20 there was nobody in the prep room, no juice cups, and the waffle maker put out a waffle coated in black, maybe burnt residue from the day before or Teflon. The mix was mostly powder, and when I told the front desk, she said okay but did nothing. There were no tools for taking waffles out, so another guest went into the kitchen for cups. Someone else arrived at 7 and mixed the batter after I told her it needed it. The French toast sticks were stale and cold. The clerk at the desk seemed to be working a double. In the room, there was a large refrigerator unplugged. The whole check-in process was chaotic: they messaged ahead to ask about requests, I replied and got no response. When I called, they answered and hung up. Later, I asked about our quiet-room request, and was asked if I was "John." It took ten minutes to find my reservation, despite trying both my last name and reservation number. They eventually found it and had us on the first floor, then moved us to the fourth. At check-in they kept asking whether I'd paid. Strongly avoid.

I was charged $300 online for two nights, then another $188 when I arrived to check in for those same two nights. They promised to reimburse me, but I never got the money back. It felt like a straight-up rip-off by a fraudulent business. Be careful, they overcharge and don't reimburse you.

Comfortable and convenient, with great service. I love staying here and plan to come back.
