Quality Inn & Suites Montebello - Los Angeles

The hotel has a calm, classic feel, and the lobby and dining room have an old Hollywood look that brought Marilyn Monroe’s era to mind. It feels like a place with some character and a story, rather than a cookie-cutter hotel. There’s a full restaurant on site, open Tuesdays and Saturdays, which was a nice surprise. Breakfast is served to guests instead of being laid out buffet-style, and that extra care stood out. The dining space is welcoming, and guests can also use the business center. We’ve enjoyed our stay and appreciated the experience. It’s a hidden gem for anyone who likes character and attentive service.

The room’s clean and comfortable, and the staff have been nice so far. Juan has been especially wonderful. Breakfast is pretty good, too. There’s truck parking behind the building, with about 16 spaces. If you’re bobtail, you can use the regular spaces across from them. The place looks like it’s been here for decades, though you can see some updates have been made. I’m not sure what hotel it was before Quality Inn. USB charging ports in the rooms would be a good addition.

After several stays at other branches, this is the first one I’ve found this bad and low quality. The place is crowded and noisy, and there seems to be no security at all. Anyone can come in as they please. Breakfast is included, but it’s very poor. You can’t serve yourself or choose your own plate, the staff brings it to you, and the quality doesn’t match what I’d expect from the hotel. Now I understand the 3.5 stars on Google.

The neighborhood feels industrial and isn’t the most welcoming, though there’s lots of shopping a short distance away. The hotel worked well for me because it’s centrally placed between LA and Orange County and close to the freeway. My room was fairly large and very clean. I tested the carpet by walking around in white socks, expecting them to turn black. They stayed decently clean.
