Quality Inn (Monterrey)

The staff were extremely helpful and nice, and the location felt safe with plenty of restaurants nearby. Breakfast was good, and my room had a small kitchenette and a balcony. But it had no AC, and the bathroom was cramped. The shower kept switching from cold to hot and back. I declined room service, but someone entered anyway. Half my towels were missing, along with $5.00, though the office staff returned the money. Parking is first come, first served, so if the place is full you might not get a spot. The room was decent. I’d rate the stay around 2.5-3 stars.

Nick at the front desk gave us five-star service at a two- or three-star motel. He was welcoming and accommodating. The room was clean, the shower had good pressure, and the bed and pillows were comfortable. We also liked the location, close to most attractions. The price was good, but the motel feels a little old and tired, so I’m giving it three stars.

The continental breakfast included frozen burritos, muffins, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, and juice. Our clean room had a fridge and microwave, and the friendly, helpful front desk guy answered our questions about the area. The place is non-smoking, well maintained, and near shops and restaurants. My only issue was how dirty my feet got after walking around barefoot in the room. I had to use a washcloth to clean them before bed. We enjoyed our stay and would choose it again if we’re in the area.

We stayed here with three other families in April of 2021. The manager was very accommodating and kindly upgraded my room to a suite. It was extra clean and well kept, with some upgrades throughout, and the food and hotel quality were what you’d expect. The beach and wharf are only a few miles away, so the location was great.
