Vagabond Inn Monterey

The room itself was fine, but the breakfast was just shrink-wrapped items, granola bars, a little fruit, cold watered-down coffee, and Sunny D from a small fridge. My main complaint is how they handled a $30 towel damage charge made three days after our stay. I called and was told the manager would review it and call me back, but nobody did. When I called again, an employee said the money was being credited. He waited while I checked my card transactions, seemed surprised it hadn’t appeared yet, and told me to give it longer. Five days later there was still no credit, and again they promised a callback that never came. A week after that, a different employee said they wouldn’t honor the first employee’s word and would not return the $30. Maybe the charge for towels made very dirty after hiking in the Sierras was fair, maybe not. Promising to refund it, then backing out after several calls went unanswered, is inexcusable.
