Stay Inn & Suites Montgomery

I ended up disputing both the room charge and the $100 I say they took from me. I wouldn’t recommend this place after what happened, and I’d tell anyone booking to do so at their own risk. I checked in on new year's eve around 10pm and was told they’d put an incidental hold on my card. I showered, went out, came back after 3am, and went to sleep. Around 8am I got up, showered, left, and returned my key to the desk. When the hold wasn’t returned, I called and was told the refund would take 6 days. I called again after that and was told I needed to speak to a manager. The manager said housekeeping had reported “smoking in the room” and that he couldn’t refund me. I believe they accused me of smoking so they could keep my money. This was the biggest mistake, and I’d give them 0/5 if I could.

From the entrance through the elevator and into the room, everything was very clean and smelled amazing. I nearly canceled after reading the reviews, and I’m glad I didn’t. It felt very safe, with motion sensors, cameras front to back, bright lighting, and entry through the key entrance and front desk only. You can’t get in without them. I’ll definitely come back.

For the $67 total I paid, this was magnificent value, and I’d happily stay again. I spent one night in May. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was great, and the reasonably large bathroom was in good shape. The TV had lots of channels and a scrolling guide, everything worked, and both the staff and parking were good. My room was spacious, nearly suite sized, though the furniture was older. It looked nice and seemed well kept. It was the kind of room that makes you wish you’d booked more nights. I’d rate the hotel 8.2/10.

At around 100 bucks, there are much nicer places nearby. Still, if saving money is the priority, this isn’t a bad pick. We paid 75 a night, which seemed fair for a clean budget hotel. The bed was OK, but the pillows weren’t very comfortable. The room was extremely dated, with some damage in different spots.
