Days Inn Morristown

We were booked for October 9 through the 11th. After paying and getting the key, we walked into a room with spilled coffee on the TV stand, no trash bags, liquor bottles in the trash, garbage behind the table, and stained beds and blankets. The bathroom door was falling apart, and I nearly got stuck inside. It smelled strongly of urine, and after checking, there was blood on the mattress. Booking.com got the place to agree to a full refund, but the next day I got an email saying I'd be charged a $70 no-show fee. The charge went through as a recurring monthly payment using my card, my bank told me, so I had to turn the card off. Locals also told me the place is mostly used for drug deals and full of roaches. When my husband returned the key after the refund was agreed, they were already rebooking our room to a woman who was there, even though we'd taken the room apart to get photos.

After traveling more than 30 hours cross country, I stopped for a shower and some rest. I got a key, went to the room, and tried the TV first, but it wouldn't turn on. Then I realized a family was already staying in that room. I went back to the office and told the woman, but she insisted nobody was there. I said there could even be more than one family in there. There were so many roaches they were moving the furniture around. She said she'd move me to one of the newer bedrooms up front, which was different from the other room and didn't have bugs.

We switched rooms after the first one had a TV that didn't work and a gap of about 2 inches around the door that let cold air in. They offered towels to block the draft, but there wasn't a TV remote. The second room was fine and had no issues.

The sheets were stained, the towels were gray and stained, and I found bugs on the floor, in the bathtub, and in the sink. The headboard had fallen off and was lying behind the bed on the floor. The free breakfast was only granola bars. Trains passing by made noise, and other guests were loud and rowdy until early morning.
