Hilton Garden Inn Mt. Laurel

Booking online was easy, and we just needed somewhere warm while our power was out, so it did the job for that. Still, I wouldn’t want to stay here for long. The beds and pillows were extremely uncomfortable, and the neighbors were the biggest issue: they stayed up late playing games or watching something, then were yelling and slamming doors at 5 a.m. No idea who raised them. Maybe we were unlucky, or maybe the walls are thin.

The morning breakfast team was so accommodating, and the housekeeping woman was amazing. I told her about a small room issue, and it had been taken care of by the time I came back. She explained it was caused by previous guests, then even walked with me to the lobby desk to sort it out. So sweet. The foyer was lovely, the staff welcoming, and we had a pleasant stay. Plus, it’s right behind CRACKER BARREL PERK!!! My husband and I were here two weeks ago.

I was excited to find a hotel where I could bring my shepherd and have a pool and hot tub, but the stay was a letdown. The room was dirty when we arrived, with hair all over the bathroom and cookies on the rug by the fridge. I didn’t complain because it was Valentine’s Day weekend and the hotel was very busy. The pool didn’t seem sanitary, and the hot tub wasn’t even usable. Half the gym equipment didn’t work, either. Now I’m seeing duplicate charges on my card, including one I don’t understand. Very disappointed.

The front desk staff were efficient and polite, but they didn’t seem especially welcoming or interested in how guests were doing. No one checked in during our stay or after we were moved. They had said the kitchen was open until 10, but it closed at 9 both nights. Food orders took much longer than seemed necessary, and the room credit only covered two breakfast choices, neither the continental or buffet. Breakfast items weren’t restocked as they ran low, and the oatmeal was cold. There were no Chai tea bags, either. The rooms had other problems. In the first one, the carpet looked dingy and stained. I only noticed how bad it was when I bent down to put on my shoes. The door took a body slam to open, then either slammed so hard that the whole wing seemed to jump, which had me on edge, or had to be pushed shut by hand. They moved us from the floor with all the pets to the one with all the football team boys. That carpet was just as bad, with red candy stains instead of toothpaste stains. There were no bathroom fans, so the room got humid after showers. We had to keep the door shut very carefully to keep the main room comfortable. I’ve liked being able to text the front desk at other hotels, and that wasn’t an option here. Even with the convenient location for family visits and all our rewards points, we won’t come back. We’ll have to find somewhere else for holiday visits.
