I ended up seeing the aurora borealis from the balcony, which isn’t a normal thing at this location, and later got to sit out there when it warmed up. I wasn’t sure the balcony suite would be worth it, but it was. The room wasn’t quite as advertised: it was the right room type, but had a bigger balcony and a different bed. It was a very pleasant stay, even if the room showed some wear around the edges. The front desk staff explained everything clearly at check-in and sorted out any room issues right away. I also ate at the restaurant, and had the Manhattan twice because it was so good: sourdough piled with excellent roast beef and mashed potatoes, all covered in gravy. I stopped by for breakfast before leaving too, and it was very good quality. I plan to stay again and would recommend the place.

My wife and I had a late dinner on Thursday at the Artists Colony Inn restaurant. The dining room decor made for a relaxing setting, and the front desk staff and our server were friendly. Sarah P deserves special credit for attentive, respectful service throughout the meal. The food didn’t match the service. My wife’s “Hand-Carved Roast Beef Manhattan” was more like deli meat over bland mashed potatoes, all drowned in gravy. My Brown County Fish Sandwich seemed more like formed, breaded cod than the local walleye lightly breaded with cornmeal described on the menu. The small shared Apple Crisp was disappointing too. The AC Restaurant could be nice for drinks and maybe appetizers with friends, but I’d choose another place for a full dinner in Nashville, IN.

We tried the new a la carte menu on our annual October trip, instead of the old buffet ordering setup, and the food was better. We liked it enough to eat here twice. The corned beef was impressively good, the breakfast potatoes were delicious, and the sweet potato pancakes are a must. You won’t regret it!

We’ve been coming here for years and used to love the country-style cooking, but the menu has changed to pretty basic food. The Manhattan is the only thing they still had, and it wasn’t the same: they changed the bread and there wasn’t much turkey. The place was clean and everyone very friendly.

The room was cozy and quaint, themed around George La Chace, one of Brown County’s founding painters. I enjoyed reading about him that night while cuddled up with my beautiful girlfriend on the third floor. The bathrooms had great water pressure and soft water, and the climate control worked really well. It’s a great spot for getting to know nashville. Breakfast downstairs was excellent, a nice little break from the troubles of the world.
