Courtyard By Marriott Nashville Downtown

The bed was comfortable, the view was nice, and the heating and AC worked really well. I also appreciated the drawer space and having a tub. The bed area of my room was good, but the bathroom looked and felt dated. A long crack runs across four and a half tiles, and it’s hard to understand why it hasn’t been repaired. It looks bad and gives the bathroom an unpleasant feel. The front desk, cleaning, and valet staff were all great. I’m a big Marriott fan, and the Courtyard has a nice location and staff, though the room itself was just okay.

The staff were apologetic, and the room was large, the location was great, and I could do laundry. But there were several problems over my three-day stay. My room was over 80 degrees Fahrenheit, and the windows wouldn’t open. They fixed the heat after I complained, but only for a few hours. On my next complaint they offered a fan, which would only have blown the hot air around, and eventually I had to move rooms. It seemed like other guests were dealing with the same thing. On the second morning, every elevator was down, so we took the stairs. The valet cost more than US$70 a day after fees and taxes. They offered a few thousand extra Bonvoy points for all the issues, but I never received them.

We had a wonderful stay, and the staff really helped when our flight was delayed. They also tracked down an important item we’d accidentally left behind, which we appreciated a lot. The location worked well, with parking nearby, nightlife close by, and easy access to the highways.

We got to check in early, which is always handy when you’re traveling, and the staff were friendly. Broadway is an easy walk, with hundreds of bars and restaurants nearby. The hotel bar’s hours are a little odd since it doesn’t open until later, but that was my only complaint. I’d stay here again when I’m back in Nashville, and I will be.
