Hilton Garden Inn Nashville Vanderbilt

The restaurant and location were the only things that kept this from feeling like a two-star hotel at best. We had planned to come for a business trip to the Nashville flea market, but it was canceled two days beforehand. Since we couldn't get a refund, we went anyway. The Trivago listing said $60 a night for two people. My mother booked it, and we later found an extra $125 charge for a pull-out couch that nobody had told us about. We only noticed after checking the bank account. Parking was the biggest shock: $50 a night for the garage. Self-parking meant going up to the third floor, and none of the elevators were working. Those issues had started before the snowstorm, even though I expect the manager will blame the storm. We arrived two days before the snow came. Other than that, the stay was pretty generic. We finally had to leave because of the ice storm and the rooms weren't getting heat.

We’ve been waiting in the freezing lobby since 9:30 this morning, and at 1:00pm we still haven’t gotten the room we paid for. My sister and I are in town for a concert. I used to work in housekeeping, and clearing a room shouldn’t take this long. The breakfast cooks were really rude, and the food wasn’t good anyway. I’d rather eat at a local Waffle House.

After a 12-hour drive, we got to the Hilton garden hotel and found the parking garage covered in a solid sheet of ice. We slipped going between the car and elevator several times, and there was no salt down. The garage also smelled of trash, and parking cost $50 with no free option for guests. The elevator was out, so we had to carry our luggage down five flights of stairs. At check-in, nobody greeted us because the staff were busy chatting, laughing, and looking at their phones. Then we found fresh semen on the bed. A staff member came to verify it, which only made the whole thing more upsetting. The room and hotel were very dirty. Breakfast was $20, so we skipped it. We had paid for two queen beds, but were given one king. My son's friend ended up on a broken pull-out sofa that was painfully uncomfortable and loud, like sleeping on glass. That made for a terrible experience for him. We’re longtime Hilton members, but this place has really gone downhill. We feel ashamed of it and won’t stay at another Hilton again. Holiday inn Express is where we’ll go from now on. This was a horrible first visit to Nashville, and we’re leaving with no wish to return.

The rooms were very clean, but I had trouble getting the old luggage cart into the elevator until an employee helped me. When housekeeping came by, I asked for more cups and never got them. Later, the ice storm knocked out power. They had a generator, but it only warmed the lobby, not the rooms, and the temperature was dropping fast. I checked out early so my son and I wouldn’t freeze. We checked in on Jan 22nd for what was meant to be a four-night stay, with checkout on January 26th. I booked through Travgo for two people. The room only had a king bed, so my son asked for one with a couch. They moved us to a room with both, then charged an extra $200 for the upgrade. He also found out we had to pay around $60 a day for parking. I paid $148 to leave my car there for three days, and they said another $60 would be due for the fourth day.
