Holiday Inn Express & Suites Nashville Metrocenter Downtown by IHG

We arrived after a long day traveling through winter storms with seven band members, only to learn the room types we'd confirmed in advance were no longer available. The hotel had changed our reservation after booking because it was oversold, not because we'd made an error. When we asked for help, the front desk response felt nonchalant, with little urgency or concern about finding a workable solution. There was no real sense of ownership, empathy, or effort to fix a problem outside our control. After checking in and seeing that no meaningful accommodation would be made, I left and secured six rooms elsewhere late that evening. As an IHG Gold Elite Member, I expect a basic level of care, communication, and accountability at IHG properties. This fell well below it, especially while traveling professionally with a group in difficult conditions. Mistakes happen, but the lack of care and customer service turned a manageable issue into a major disruption. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and helps improve how guests are treated when plans go wrong.

The lobby entrance was very clean and welcoming, and the front desk associates were friendly. The eating area is nice, the coffee was good, and breakfast was good too. Parking is limited. In room 410, the sink didn't drain well. I submitted a complaint, but nobody came up to check it.

Everything else was great, but the smoke detectors have green strobe lights. If flashing lights bother you, sleeping here will be hard. There are two strobe fire alarms in the rooms, so I took off a star for that and another because they charge for parking in their own lot.

I'm a California guy in Nashville for the week, and I already miss Southern hospitality when I'm away. This place feels like home. One morning I came down late for breakfast after too much honky-tonk the night before. The buffet was cleared, the trays were gone, and I was left looking at sad, empty pans. Tina saw my face, smiled, and reopened the kitchen. She made fresh eggs, sausage, and crispy bacon while softly singing old hymns. No attitude, just kindness and a tune. She doesn't need a stage, she blesses you with bacon and a hymn. California can keep its $18 toast, I'll take sausage and a serenade. The rooms are spotless, the beds are cloud-level comfortable, and every staff member treats you like family who just won the lottery. I came for seven nights and might have to extend the rest of my life. 11/10.
