The staff were friendly, which was the one good part of the stay. I wouldn't come back, though. I thought I was booking a different hotel owned by the same company, and wish I'd checked the reviews first. The entrance was hard to spot, partly hidden by overgrown weeds. Inside the room, there was a musty smell that seemed like it could be mold somewhere in the AC, walls, or ceiling. My allergies started acting up after I'd been there a while, which was unsettling since we had our baby with us. There were cobwebs in a corner, odd stains on the quilt, and the bed frame banged whenever we moved. The furniture didn't match and felt a bit like a college dorm. Not a deal breaker by itself, but for over $100 I expected two bedside tables and a working phone that wasn't from the '90s and had all its buttons. I expected a better stay, but I guess you get what you pay for.

The people we dealt with were nice, but that didn't make the stay worth the money. The breakfast was lukewarm at best, the mattress was lumpy, and there was no filtered water. Our room had a broken bulb left in the corner lamp, and the TV remote only worked partly. The room phone was missing, so I couldn't call the front desk about the constant noise from upstairs and next door: doors slamming, loud music, and barking dogs coming through the floor and walls. I also had to track down an ironing board. On the first floor, one window lock barely worked and the other was broken. Wooden poles were set up as a security measure, but they weren't long enough to stop someone breaking in. I'm not sure the security door at the end of the hotel even works. A deal outside Glenwood Springs, maybe, but all these issues together were too much.

The room was clean and roomy, with windows that slid open for some fresh air, and the A/c worked really well. We ended up staying two nights after being stranded in riffle for a few days. This was the only hotel with a room available that first night. The front desk person, who I assume was the manager, was incredibly understanding and helpful. There’s a pool and a laundry room guests can use, too. I’m giving it five stars for the kind service and treatment. We were comfortable there.

On my way back to Idaho, this made a good place to stop for the night in Colorado. It’s west of the stretch along the 70 where bad weather can hold up a trip, but not as far west as Grand Junction. I could avoid paying more for a room in one of the towns farther east, and the rate seemed reasonable for the location. My room had plenty of space, and the bed was very comfortable.

I had a spacious, clean room and a comfortable bed, and the rate felt fair for basic accommodation. The heater was noisy. They put me in a wheelchair accessible room, which had no carpet and a bathroom big enough to turn around in easily between the vanity, toilet, and tub. It only felt unusual because I don't use a wheelchair. Being on the ground floor right beside the stairs meant I heard noisy neighbors clumping downstairs at 5:30 am. Better sound insulation and better manners would help. I'd choose the second floor away from the stairs. Breakfast was nice, with coffee from a touchscreen machine, hot trays of sausage, eggs, and pancakes, a box of muffins, bread, and bagels, plus sugary cereal, instant oatmeal, milk, and yogurt. The indoor pool was good for a cold plunge in freezing weather after the "hot" tub, which was lukewarm, maybe 102°.
