Everyone we interacted with was friendly and helpful, and the rooms were very spacious, possibly because an older building was converted into a hotel. Still, I’d give this place a firm no because of the location and atmosphere. We traveled with a club volleyball team, and two families had to change rooms: one room’s ceiling sagged from water collecting above and eventually caved in onto the bathroom floor; in the other, the TV and air conditioning stopped working. The larger concern was the street scene on that part of Carondelet near Canal. There was drug use and public intoxication, and on two nights a roadside barbecue pit drew about twenty people who drank and carried on all night. A mother traveling alone in our group was nearly knocked down when a homeless man jumped on her from an alley. I kept a close eye on the people outside whenever I walked my family in or out. Given that street atmosphere, I wouldn’t call this a nice place to stay.

Breakfast had a wide range of options, and it was an easy walk to both the Superdome and Bourbon street. When we arrived, the valet team helped my family with our luggage, and the front desk staff were exceptionally kind and helpful. Our room was very clean and had an amazing view. This hotel was perfect for us, and we’ll stay here again when we visit with the family. Whoever runs it is doing a wonderful job.

I was in town for work and had a pleasant 24-hour stay at the Hampton on Cardondelet St. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Check-in was easy, and the elevators were simple to use with little waiting compared with some big-city hotels. Breakfast on the second floor had a good selection, and I used the second-floor business center to print something without any trouble. The hotel is close to everything, though the people on the street felt quite sketchy until Canal St.

The rooms and beds were spotless, and I had no cleanliness issues. Breakfast was solid, and the 24-hour valet service gave me peace of mind about my car. The hotel was easy to navigate, with valet right by the entrance and elevators just inside. It felt practical and comfortable, almost like a downtown apartment, and Bourbon Street and plenty of businesses and restaurants were only a couple of blocks away. The staff made the stay especially enjoyable. The valet attendant was warm, professional, and helpful, more like a concierge than a valet, and made guests feel welcome. The gentleman who checked me in was efficient and calmly solved problems on the spot. He seemed to have real hospitality experience and the presence of someone who could run a hotel someday. The manager was pleasant and personable too. I never felt unsafe, but a more visible, permanent security presence by the entrance could be reassuring when people are lingering out front. I’d absolutely stay here again.
