A friend bailed on our San Fran trip, so on a whim I decided to go to NOLA instead. I booked this place less than 24 hours before my vacation began, and I’m so glad I found a spot. It was my first hostel stay, and it beat my expectations. Since it’s a converted house, it has a comfortable, homey feel. The room and beds were clean, and I loved the patio in the middle of the house for breakfast or reading. The staff were great and helpful, especially Nadia. She was warm and welcoming, and we chatted about places to see, eat, shop, and go for drinks. By the end, she felt like a friend, not staff. I highly recommend this place. You won’t regret it!

I never thought I’d be up for a hostel when my friend booked one for our trip, but I wouldn’t change the experience. We had a blast and even went out with roommates we met there. It was fun meeting people from all over. Imogen was great, and the guy from Uruguay helped me get my things out of a locker after I lost the key. He even gave me another lock. Everyone in my room was so respectful that after the first day, I didn’t feel like I needed to lock up my stuff. People only came into the rooms to sleep, so I got great rest too. This place has me willing to try more hostels.

The shared backyard was our favorite part: tables, benches, string lights, and even a spot for darts and beer pong. We could hang out there with local friends, which was allowed, and had a great time swapping stories with other guests. Afterward, the kitchen was handy for making hot cereal or pancakes and having hot coffee. The staff were excellent and had lots of helpful traveler tips. Our room was large, clean, and had plenty of AC. The location is a short walk from the old mansions, graveyards, and places to eat and drink. We loved our stay and will absolutely come back on my next trip.

*** not a paid review *** Vanessa was awesome, and the house was very clean with really friendly staff. I paid about $180 for a private room for three nights, less than a single night at most New Orleans hotels. They didn’t accept credit cards, which was a bummer, but there was an ATM in the house and they deducted the ATM fee from my total. The start of my stay was a little rough because I’d booked through their other house in the French Quarter and was given that address. They were very helpful getting me to the right place.

The laid-back atmosphere and friendly welcome made this a nice stay. Lana and Myra helped us get settled and showed us around when we arrived. We got a great price and would stay again. It’s in the heart of downtown NO, in the Garden district, and the French Quarter is a short walk or ride away. We walked everywhere, though there’s also a trolley stop somewhere nearby.
