Belnord Hotel

It was my first time in New York, and this hotel was closest to the things we wanted to do. The price was fair, and the staff were very nice, especially the cleaning ladies. Getting settled was messy: first we were given a key to an occupied room, then a key to a room with no AC. They eventually moved us to another room with great AC, near the little cafe and patio, and that one was the best. I’d definitely stay again.

The price for a whole hotel room was great, and I’m glad I booked it since I couldn’t do hostiles while traveling with my mother. Everything was clean and looked newly renovated, and the inside was very cute. There were no bad smells, the temperature was comfortable, and tea and coffee were available 24 hours. No regrets. A heads-up: the rooms are just big enough, including space for luggage, and the bathrooms are very small. There are tall stairs at the entrance, so this hotel may not work for folks with significant mobility limitations.

The location was excellent, and the staff were friendly. We stayed for seven nights and found the hotel clean, comfortable, and much better value than other places we looked at in NYC. The facilities are pretty basic. Free coffee, tea, and hot chocolate were available around the clock. WiFi was patchy, though it worked most of the time, and the boilers could get loud, usually for only a short while.

The rooftop outdoor space was a real plus, with a kitchen beside it offering free coffee and tea, plus a snack machine. The people running the Belnord Hotel were friendly and accommodating, and everything was very clean. Our room and bathroom were both small. There was just enough space for the bed, two little nightstands, and one person to move around at a time. That felt manageable in NYC. This wasn't the Plaza, but it was the least expensive hotel I found in the Upper West Side area where I wanted to stay, near the park. I'd recommend it if you know what you're getting for your money.
