The Emerald Suite was ideal, especially the marble shower and huge windows. Diane, who manages this bed and breakfast, was lovely, attentive, and accommodating. I stayed there last year and wanted to finally share my thoughts. For me, the place is really comfortable, with original parquet floors, a wooden staircase, and high ceilings in a brownstone built in the 1800s. Those ceilings brought back a nostalgic feeling. The metro entrance is just a few steps away, and the train takes you to Midtown in 20 minutes. Morningside Park and the Columbia University campus are around 4-5 blocks away, with several lounges, restaurants, and bistros within easy walking distance. Breakfast is complimentary, with fresh fruit and pastries, and I started each day with coffee from the Miele espresso/coffeemaker. There’s also a jacuzzi suite I’d like to try next. I’ll definitely be back in 2023.

We felt badly mistreated. Cockroaches kept turning up in the apartment, and we killed three or four every day when we came back. We complained several times, but they offered no solution and didn’t even come speak with us. After days of complaints, they finally sent an exterminator, who said there were no bugs. We kept killing cockroaches until we left.

There were seven of us, and the bathroom toilet wasn’t great for a group that size. The kitchen gear was extremely disappointing, too: one pan had no handles, one pot had a broken handle and the other kept turning, and there were no saucepans. In short, not much equipment for us French people to cook with.

The location was very good for shops and the metro. One of the room’s beds, though, was extremely uncomfortable, with completely worn-out springs. We also didn’t get any welcome instructions.
