The hotel and rooms were clean, and DoorDash delivery worked without any trouble. Check-in went smoothly, and everyone I spoke to was courteous and helpful. Parking is tight for a large pickup, especially if cars have to be moved for an early departure. The bulletproof glass can feel intimidating if you're not used to inner-city issues, which is why I'm giving four stars. Still, I'd stay here again.
The bathroom was filthy, and the room didn't seem to get cleaned. Worst of all, my sister and I were asleep when a housekeeper entered at 6 a.m. despite the Do Not Disturb sign. She didn't knock, just swiped in quickly, then ran off when I got up to confront her. It made me feel like she intended to steal. The room was freezing in January, and we had to beg staff to fix the heater and bring an extra blanket. Staff were rude and disrespectful. Even though we'd booked a King Room, the space was tiny, with just one light leaving half the room dark. The TV was so dim that its brightness couldn't be adjusted. The breakfast they'd described as nice was plain bagels, dry cereal, cream cheese, and water, with no other drinks. I'm disgusted and disappointed by this stay. It might do if you only need somewhere to sleep for one night, but don't expect comfort.
Plans changed after I got to New York, and I was able to book a room here at the last minute even though I hadn't planned to stay in a hotel. The staff were friendly, and the security guard working Friday evening, May 7th, was awesome. My key stopped working a few times, which was the only real negative, thank goodness for the elevators. The room was small, but fine for one person. The hotel was clean, and housekeeping was on point when I wanted it. I drove and could park for free behind the hotel when a space opened up. I can't see why people would leave bad reviews. I couldn't have picked a better hotel and will be back. Thanks, y'all!
I booked here during the NYC snowstorm because the roads weren't passable. It was close to the hospital where I work, but cost more than the other Holiday Inn about a mile farther away. I left the I'M BUSY sign on the door when I went to work at 5 a.m. When I returned, items had been moved, toilet paper was in the bathroom, and trash bags had been added. After checking my belongings, I found money and other valuables missing. I complained to the front desk, then asked the housekeepers that afternoon why someone entered despite the sign. She said nobody would come in if it was out. I told her cameras would show someone with a key had entered while I was gone, and that I wasn't imagining it. I'll report this to corporate. The floors needed vacuuming, there was hair in the tub, and no towels in the room. It was loud, too. As a shift worker who sleeps during the day and works nights, I wouldn't stay here. They offer no discounts to essential workers, but will steal from you.
We did get checked in earlier than the official time, but only after waiting, despite messaging the hotel days ahead to ask about early check-in and late checkout. The staff weren't very accommodating, and the place is small. Breakfast the next morning was disappointing: none of the hot food was out because, the clerk said, the person who prepares it had called off. It wasn't the best stay, but it wasn't the worst either. I might give it another try, though probably not.
