Holiday Inn New York City - Wall Street by IHG

The hotel stayed quiet throughout our visit, and the staff even upgraded us to a more spacious room on the 19th floor. It was a great base for my friend’s first NYC trip and all the usual tourist activities. Everyone was kind and efficient, including with late check-in and storing and retrieving our luggage. Ms. Zaynah was especially impressive during a chaotic rush at check-in. She got our bags back smoothly, skillfully “played Tetris” with suitcases in the elevator and corridor, let us pick ours up, then sent us straight to the room so we could rest without delay. She did all of it with a smile. Unbelievable service.

I stayed for work because I needed to get to Water Street and Fidi. For business around Wall Street, I’d recommend this for a quick one or two night trip, three at most. The rooms are very tight. You may not be able to open a full-size suitcase all the way, though my backpack was fine. Tourists with kids may find it unsuitable unless they only need a night or two to see the Financial District. The plugs are outdated and still USB A, and the TV is old. Hot water worked during my winter stay. They supply Dove soap, body wash, and shampoo. There’s a convenience store about 50 feet (15 meters) away for drinks and snacks.

Housekeeping came every day with fresh sheets, towels, and coffee. The bed was super comfortable, the linens were top-notch, and the staff were friendly and professional. When the ice machine stopped working, they brought us bags of ice from somewhere, maybe the staff room. I only wish there were a small fridge and microwave in the room for cold drinks and leftovers. The rooms are small, but very clean. It’s NYC, after all. The location is wonderful, about a ten-minute walk to the WTC, subway, and the end of the island where the ferries are. There’s loads nearby, including gift shops, bars, lounges, restaurants, TJ Maxx, and a CVS. I loved my stay and will choose this hotel again next time I’m in New York City.

For getting around the city, this has been my best NYC location so far. Wall Street is close, Fulton station and the Oculus are a few minutes on foot, and the subway can take you all over. It’s quiet and clean, with convenience stores, a pharmacy, bars, pizza, and both inexpensive pizza and pricier dockside restaurants within easy reach. I’ve visited NYC many times as a tourist, and the location really worked for walking and travel across town. Rooms are clean and standard for a Holiday Inn, plenty fine as a base for exploring. Staff were genuinely helpful and always at the desk. They seem to work hard and may not be rewarded enough. Location and price are the main reasons to book. If you want a reasonably priced, quiet place to sleep between days out, you can’t go far wrong.
