The staff were great, and I’m grateful for the work they do for the community. I enjoyed getting involved in the volunteering, and the food and drinks were a real benefit. The location was handy, though the 7/11 next door felt sketchy. I also couldn’t fault the staff member who regularly enforced the quiet rule. I wish the team all the best, and I’ll definitely stay involved with their community work, but I won’t stay here again. Thanks, Interfaith. My week here was pleasant enough, but the noise made it hard to rest. I stayed on a floor with about 20 of the small rooms shown in the photos. The ceilings are open, so you can hear everything, and the laminate floor carries every footstep. People often weren’t considerate: doors slammed, and guests talked as they came in. Check-ins happened all night and into the early morning, so even whispered tours woke me. I was also woken by cleaning around 7am on many mornings, and my room was near the bins. The quiet rule wasn’t enforced consistently. I’m sober and thought this might be a good alternative to hostels with bunk rooms and lots of drinking. Looking back, that wasn’t a wise choice. At least in those places you only have to worry about the people in your room; here there are a lot of people around. I traveled solo and found it hard to meet anyone. Socializing isn’t required, of course, but there isn’t really a communal space apart from the breakfast table, which is on the female floor.

The room was the main drawback: it was quite small, with limited space to move around. Still, for the price I thought it was good value. The hostel was clean and quiet, so I was comfortable, and its location made it easy to explore the city. I liked the sincere, welcoming atmosphere. The people running it were kind and helpful, and it felt safe, warm, and very friendly. Some food choices seemed limited because of the hostel’s beliefs, which I respect. I usually ate out anyway, and there was a simple American-style breakfast available. I had a pleasant stay and would recommend it.

I spent two days here, and the staff were especially kind and helpful. There’s a free breakfast with a good variety, and the location is within walking distance of major tourist attractions. Compared with other hostels, this place is a gem near Chelsea, and I’d recommend it if you want a nice spot in the area. The rooms are a little small and can be noisy at times, but everything else exceeded my expectations.

The room was very small, around 2m by 1.3m, so there wasn't much room to move around. Still, for the price it felt like good value, and I had a pleasant stay. The hostel was clean and quiet, the people running it were kind and helpful, and it felt safe and warm. Its location also made it easy to explore the city. Breakfast was a simple American-style spread, but nice to have and enough for me. I'd recommend it to solo travelers who'll spend most of their time out seeing the city.

The main draw is the location, and for NYC it was affordable. If being near Times Square and avoiding a commute matters to you, it could work. Otherwise, paying about 30% more per night for a hotel farther out in Brooklyn might be preferable. I stayed three nights and, each night, staff waking snoring guests was what woke me, not the street sounds or the snoring itself. They seemed strict about keeping quiet from 9pm-9am, even with the windows open and outside noise coming in. There were also lots of early alarms, and once I think a staff member tried to force a door when a guest didn't wake up. You can hear everything, even breathing, packing, scratching, or humming. The place is quieter than many hostels, and the staff are really friendly and helpful. Shared bathrooms and showers were surprisingly clean. The rooms were much smaller than I expected, and it felt pricey for what you get beyond the location. Guests mostly kept to themselves, so it wasn't easy to socialize as a solo traveler.
