The service was the clearest problem during my stay. It wasn't cool Manhattan reserve or polished briskness, just inattentive, disconnected hospitality that fell well short of what this price and positioning suggest. I've stayed at leading properties along the Central Park corridor and written for top travel and lifestyle publications, and I found this experience embarrassingly below the standard Park Lane seems to think it delivers. The worst moment came at 7 a.m., when a group of young adults, possibly high schoolers, woke us by filming in or around the property. There was shrieking, laughter, and chaotic performance-art energy. It felt outrageous in a hotel of this supposed stature. The day before had already been poor, including being asked to leave before closing, which made it seem that guest comfort came second to disorganized priorities behind the scenes. Park Lane's address is extraordinary, right on Central Park South, and the building seems to trade on the glamour attached to that location. But once inside, the illusion faded. It wants to be stylish, current, and iconic, but style without substance is staging, and luxury without grace is just a price tag. A celebrated address can't make up for hospitality that feels this flimsy. The Pierre and Thompson, in the same category and neighborhood, do far better on service, rooms, atmosphere, and making the guest experience count beyond the lobby look. Their views also hold your attention longer than ten minutes because they're backed by standards. Park Lane may have one of Manhattan's most enviable locations, but location alone doesn't make it luxurious, and here it does almost all the work.

Being right across from Central Park is a real privilege, and the room views are breathtaking. Waking up to the park and the iconic skyline feels like the magic of New York. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and they're kept immaculate, as are the common areas. Everything feels calm, elegant, and well cared for. The people here made the stay, from the welcoming, professional lobby team to the knowledgeable concierge, friendly bell staff, and consistently thorough housekeeping. Arrivals and departures were easy, and the rooms stayed spotless and organized. At Darling, the hotel's restaurant, the staff were just as welcoming and attentive. Breakfast, coffee, or a drink with one of the city's most beautiful views all felt special. Room service is available around the clock and was prompt, reliable, and very good, whether for a late-night craving or a slow morning in the room. Park Lane New York brings together a prime spot, wonderful views, cleanliness, and a team that makes guests feel welcome and looked after. I'd look forward to coming back.

The location made it easy to reach the Midtown action while still being just across from Central Park, not right in the middle of the bustle. Our three-night visit was remarkable. We had connecting rooms on the 45th floor with terrific city views, and they were roomier than most NYC rooms we had considered. Everyone we met was welcoming, and the service from check-in through checkout made us feel valued. Friends recommended Park Lane, and we'll be recommending it too. We'll stay there again on our next NYC visit.

The food was a standout at our work event. The sliders, crab cakes, and tuna tartare were all memorable, with well thought out flavors and great execution. The room had plenty of space, an immaculate atmosphere, mirrors that were a nice touch, and a lovely view of Central Park. Staff were professional and polite. Bridget deserves a special mention for tending to a room full of attorneys with such candor and grace.

The location and service were both great, and if you have a park-facing room, the views are hard to beat. Calverts is a cozy little place for a drink or meal. The room was clean, though it looked a bit dated and worn, and some areas could use a refresh. There weren't as many amenities as I'd expect. I asked for an ice bucket and it arrived promptly, but it was made of paper and by morning it was sitting in a puddle of melted ice on the table. Great service and a great park location, but the amenities and luxuries could use an upgrade.
