The Maritime Hotel

The rooms are tiny, but they're cozy and well equipped, with good lighting and full-length mirrors that were handy when getting ready to go out. Breakfast is a small, standard American-style buffet, easy for grabbing a quick bite and coffee or tea. And with Chelsea Market right next door, plus all the delicious restaurants around NYC, I never worried about finding food.

We had a wonderful time at the Maritime Hotel and would happily return. The location was very convenient, especially with a subway station nearby that we used often to get around Manhattan. The bedding was comfortable and the toiletries were high quality. Every staff member we met was welcoming and friendly, with a special mention for George at the front desk, who helped us several times and gave stellar service. Highly recommend it.

The staff were really lovely and accommodating, and the neighborhood was fun with easy subway access. Our room was small but efficiently laid out, with enough space to unpack and stow our things for a week. Still, several fixtures needed repair or replacement. Engineers came promptly, but we needed three separate visits for problems with the window and bathroom. Nights were loud on the street, with two nightclubs nearby. We were on a higher floor, but our room didn't have the noise-cancelling window screen the hotel supposedly provides. A pleasant week overall, though the repairs and nightly noise were drawbacks.

We visited the week before Christmas and found the place affordable for NYC. It's right beside Chelsea Market and Starbucks Reserve, and the location was superb. The hotel's unusual character was lovely, too, and the staff were kind throughout. Thanks for the warm hospitality!
