The Roger Smith Hotel

The bed was huge and comfortable, and the hotel’s location is very good. We had a Junior suit, which was spacious, but I expected the room to be a bit better. Traffic noise never let up. The bathroom was small and old, nothing like the website photos. The carpet and curtain rods really need replacing, and the curtains don’t block out light. Breakfast was a joke and definitely not worth 12 dollars. Better to go to a nearby cafe.

Our first visit to NY, and everyone at the hotel was incredibly helpful with directions around the city. The beds were the most comfortable, the sheets were soft, and we loved staying here. The shower had a bathtub and was super clean, though getting hot water was a little tricky. Our room faced the elevator and had a city view. It might be noisy for some, but with the A/C on, I slept like a baby day and night. They still provide toothbrushes, toothpaste, and a sewing kit. The old-style furniture gives a sense of the hotel’s history, and I’m glad they’ve kept it that way.

It’s a small, artsy, family-owned hotel in a great city location, near Gran Central Station. The staff were welcoming, and our stay was pleasant. They leave out complimentary yogurt, and the rooms were clean with nice toiletries. It’s old, with nothing modern, but very well kept. We had a microwave and mini fridge in our room, so we stocked up on snacks for late-night cravings.

The location in NYC was perfect, and the room had a great view. Everything was clean and comfortable, and we really appreciated the yogurt and granola station. Friendly, helpful staff made the stay even better. The hotel’s historic feel takes you back to an earlier time. We really enjoyed it and would definitely stay again.
