The lounge had good breakfast choices, and we stumbled on some really good cookies during the day. The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable, with bedding I loved. I appreciated having a duvet cover instead of the filthy bed system many hotels use. It smelled neutral, no bad odors and no chemical scent trying to cover anything up, just clean. The staff were pleasant and professional, and the location was excellent. I was sad to leave, which doesn’t happen on many trips. Kudos to this hotel.

We had a wonderful first stay in a suite on the 33 floor, and I hope it won’t be our last. The room was spacious and we liked it a lot, though sadly the suites don’t look uptown. The best uptown views are actually from the hallway. Breakfast was very good, and our server Serge did a wonderful job. Vanessa and Justin at the front desk were welcoming and professional. The club was nice and breakfast there was solid, but happy hour didn’t have that good a spread, and they charge for liquor at an honor bar. The location is very handy, close to carnigne hall, Central Park, and shopping. There’s a Morton Williams on the same street, open 24 hours. If you’re a globalist using points for a free night, they’ll add valet parking to that point stay, which is very rare in Manhattan. This stay was amazing, and I can’t say enough about how much you’ll enjoy it. Go for it. Sorry I forgot room pics.

More than 100 of us strike nurses stayed here for almost two months, and the team looked after us so well. I worked nights, but my two-bedroom suite was quiet enough for me to get peaceful sleep, and housekeeping kept it neat. Both restaurants served good food, and the Thompson restaurant did room service really well. You’re also close to Morton’s grocery store, banks, a pharmacy, Starbucks, and plenty of other restaurants. Charlie, the manager, made sure we had what we needed and fixed things when we didn’t. Pavel and Vanessa even texted to check in. I’m a Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador, and I’d choose this hotel over any Marriott. It deserves five stars. What a blessing! If you’re staying in the city, The Thompson is the place.

The staff were lovely, and the hotel was quiet and peaceful. The location is great, too. But the room felt old, dark, and dated, with Thompson furniture, and it didn’t meet the Thompson brand’s standard. The shower was a bathtub with a curtain, there was mildew, and the plumbing problem I reported on my first day was ignored. If you’re expecting the same experience as the West Coast Thompsons, look elsewhere.
