Westgate New York Grand Central

The quiet feel inside was a nice break from the city, even though Westgate NYC is close to attractions, shopping, and restaurants. The fitness center and dining options on site were handy, too. My room was spacious, modern, spotless, and had great city views. The bedding was comfortable, and the amenities made the stay easy and relaxing. From the moment I arrived, the staff were professional and genuinely friendly. I had a fantastic stay and can't wait to return. Highly recommend.

We spent 6 nights here while visiting NYC, and it’s easily our favorite hotel in the city. We won't risk trying somewhere new next time. It’s smaller than the big hotel chains, which gives it a personal, home-away-from-home feel. The design and Gustav Klimt artwork add to the atmosphere, and it’s impressively quiet despite being just a few blocks from Grand Central. Metro-North, LIRR, and several subway lines are steps away. The gym is great, the rooms are very clean, and the beds are extremely comfortable. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Matthew, who was kind and welcoming throughout our stay.

The hotel is tucked away from the busiest tourist areas, but it was still a short walk to the places we wanted to explore, and Central Station is very close. A couple of small local restaurants nearby made it easy to get started each morning. We had a very enjoyable trip and were pleased with our stay. The rooms looked freshly renovated, with good quality furnishings and linens. Our floor was quiet even though we were near the elevators, and the excellent mattresses and comfortable pillows helped us sleep soundly. Staff were warm, friendly, and helpful. We were two grandmothers sharing a city we love with our 10 and 12 yr old grandchildren, and everyone at WestGate NYC made us feel welcome. Our only wish was to have connecting rooms for easier chats at the end of the day.

Being close to Grand Central was the best part, but this didn't feel like a 4 star hotel, especially after the great place I left in Philadelphia. My room was small and dark, with no view despite my request. The pillows were flat, light came through the door just 3 ft from the bed, and I could hear people in the hall and bedroom, as well as water and pipes in the wall. I never figured out the TV. The $40 daily destination charge covered bottled water, wifi, and cheap in-room coffee. Service was poor to average. I had to call twice and spend 10-15 minutes on the phone just to get a work receipt that hadn't been emailed, then chase it again 30 min later. That felt weird.
