Wolcott Hotel

The only drawbacks were a small but functional bathroom and a small, slow elevator. I didn't mind the elevator, since it gave us time to think about the legends who'd ridden it before. Jeto told us some of Hotel Wolcott's rich history, and I'd suggest reading about the people who stayed there before us. This was my second visit, and I just got back from four nights. We had a Jr. Suite with comfortable beds and a very clean room. Its decor kept the period feel of the building while still being updated and comfy. The hotel is beautiful and worthy of its landmark status. Our housekeeping lady was a true jewel, clearly taking pride in doing her job well and caring for her rooms and guests. The staff were courteous and pleasant. I have only good things to say, and I'll definitely stay again. Thank you, Hotel Wolcott, for such an enjoyable visit. You've gained a loyal patron!

Our room was very large and kept tidy and clean every day. It had two bedrooms and an amazing view, but also the tiniest bathroom I've ever seen. The crew were polite and helpful, though the concierge wasn't often at the office. The hotel is in Korea town near the Empire State Building. The so-called breakfast was only a muffin and coffee or tea.

The Wolcott staff were pleasant and friendly when we arrived early, and let us into our room ahead of time, which was helpful. I love the character of this hotel, built in 1902. Our double room had lots of space and was very clean, with two large singles and another single in a second room. It was my first time in New York, so I didn't know much beyond what other people had said. Once we got our bearings, we realized we were central to almost everything. We bought a top view ticket from street touts for $60 including tax and traveled all over in a day. Loved it. I'd stay at the Wolcott again.

The hotel is fairly close to Times Square, about a 15-minute walk, with lots of convenience stores and restaurants nearby. The building has old-style architecture, but the carpets are old and a bit smelly. Otherwise, it was clean. Rooms don't have a coffee maker or refrigerator, and there's no full breakfast, just a muffin and coffee from 6 to 9 a.m. They have rooms with three single beds, which is good for families or groups. Most of the staff were helpful and smiled. A few looked at us like strict teachers!
