Hilton Wilmington/Christiana

My wife and I were treated really well by everyone else at the hotel, and they wished her a happy birthday when we arrived. The assistant manager on duty was spirited and accommodating, and offered free drinks at the bar and a free breakfast coupon after I learned I couldn't use a $100 gift card from a business associate, despite calling to check before arriving. He gave me a number to raise my concerns with the Hotel Mgr. When I called, I spoke with the Office mgr, not the Hotel mgr. She kept insisting I was wrong and they were right, and was dismissive, disrespectful, and talked down to me. I only wanted to be heard. She claimed the card must be over five years old and cited what sounded like a made-up Delaware law that gift cards throughout the state become lost property after five years. If the Hotel mgr was unavailable, she could have said so and asked him to call me back instead of treating me like a child or an employee. Shame on her. If the Hotel mgr contacts me, I'll gladly update or remove this post, or follow whatever we agree on. Otherwise, I'll leave it up and won't stay at Hilton again.

Those elevators were the one snag, since only one was running while I was there. At least I got extra steps in! The beds were comfortable, the shower was great, and the staff and breakfast service were lovely. I had a very nice stay, and the food was very good.

After a long day on the road, it was handy to have a restaurant, bar, and room service available. The front desk staff were super friendly and helpful, too. The entrance, halls, building, and rooms are all tastefully decorated. A great choice for staying in this area.

For $127 a night, I thought this was fair value for a business stopover. The room was clean, quiet, and felt safe, and the hotel is right off the freeway for an easy overnight stop. Parking is plentiful, though it costs $10 a night. There's also a decent-sized, functional gym. At my late arrival the front desk was efficient, although the interaction felt a bit curt.
