City Centre Inn at Newport News

The room they were going to give us had a bed, a desk without a chair, a refrigerator and microwave in unknown condition, and nothing else. It smelled terrible and looked even worse. The woman at the check-in desk was very nice, but we didn’t stay.

The photos on booking.com were fake. The rooms looked like trash, and they were small and dirty. We didn’t stay. After seeing the room, I asked for a refund. The manager said he would authorize it through booking, but that was a lie. He won’t answer the phone, call back, or reply to email. I wouldn’t stay there even as a last resort. Fair warning, this place is terrible and needs to close down.

The online pictures looked nothing like the place when I checked in, definitely false advertising. There was stuff under the bed from the last guest, and light fixtures fell off the wall and hit my son while he was asleep. They also had roaches, smdh. The one good thing I can say is the beds are VERY COMFORTABLE.

The only bright spot was Jay, the maintenance man. He seemed to work around the clock and was polite, courteous, and skilled at many kinds of contracting work. I’d hire him in a moment for projects at my home. Otherwise, this hotel gets everything wrong, starting with the ownership and running down to housekeeping.
