Club Wyndham Newport Onshore

We had a good-sized two-bedroom suite with a full kitchen and two bathrooms. When water leaked from the AC on the first night, the staff moved us to another room the following day. Service from the employees was great overall, and most restaurants and shops are within walking distance. The location is great, and I'd recommend the place. The pool area is nice but gets very crowded with kids jumping, diving, and splashing around. I hope nobody gets hurt. Chairs are limited, so you need to reserve a spot in the morning. There are lots of BBQ grills for everyone, an arcade for kids, and free coffee in the lobby in the morning. Each room gets just one parking spot. Two would be nice.

Even with remodeling underway, we had a great stay in a cozy, clean apartment with a comfortable bed and a modern look. The location is one of the best, close to everything in Newport.

We'd reserved this place in March and paid in full. After a four-hour drive to Newport with our baby, we arrived to find the front desk kicking us out. We'd booked downtown because our plans were within walking distance, so we could use the stroller and avoid dealing with parking. They disregarded our confirmation without warning and told us to call a number to get moved to another hotel because the time-share owner wanted to stay. I argued that we'd paid and had confirmation. They replied, “that is what you get for booking a timeshare”. They claimed they'd tried to call me that week, but they hadn't. We should not have been pushed out the week of our booking just because the owner decided to stay. You shouldn't bump guests who have paid in full and have confirmation, especially a family arriving with a baby. I was completely stressed, scrambling for somewhere to sleep. We ended up at an ordinary hotel in Middletown RI. I contacted the travel agency I booked through. They opened a case so I could try to get compensation because we'd paid for a suite and were moved to a regular hotel. They told me the property manager of this crappy hotel wouldn't refund anything, even though we were sent somewhere of lesser value. To me, they kicked us out and kept our money like a criminal. I usually don't leave reviews, but I absolutely wanted to warn people about this HORRIBLE hotel. If I could give negative stars, I would. DO NOT STAY HERE. They'll steal your money. Read the other reviews. This keeps happening and they need to be investigated!

The communication before we arrived and while we were there was really good. We enjoyed the accommodations, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and kind.
