We’ve stayed at two of Kim’s inns, and both have been the best. Kim, the innkeeper, is delightful. Our room was gorgeous, breakfast was superb, and they brought fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies in the evening. We skipped the wine and cheese social, though I’m sure it was just as nice. My husband and I have found our new getaway.

The wine and cheese hour was one of the best parts of our trip, with a tasty selection served every day. We’d never tried a bed and breakfast before, and we’re glad we picked this inn. The decor was pretty and cozy, our room was lovely, and breakfast was delicious. Kim was warm, friendly, and attentive. There’s optional evening turndown service, with the bed made and a treat left behind. Restaurants and shops are an easy walk away. We’ll definitely return, and I recommend it.

The staff here are incredible and notice every little detail. Breakfast comes with the room and was excellent. Hydrangea House Inn is beautifully furnished and a lovely choice for an anniversary getaway. You can walk to the wharfs and downtown, the art museum is next door, and the main bus line runs right by the inn. It isn’t a budget hotel, but for a luxurious stay with the features of an exclusive resort, it’s hard to find a more affordable option.

The little touches stood out: my travel partner got a dairy-free breakfast every morning without having to remind anyone, and the breakfast itself was great. We also enjoyed the wine and cheese at happy hour and a cookie at turndown. We stayed in Room 11, which was cozy and warm, though it got noisy for short spells at night when guests came in through the back door and when the kitchen started up in the morning. The inn is a charming, communal retreat from city life, and it’s a great winter weekend base in Newport. We walked everywhere, including to the Breakers and the Cliff Walk, and found lunch, dinner, and water views all within walking distance.

Thank you, Kimberly, from the bottom of our hearts for all you do. Your care for us and the other guests was clear every minute, even with so much to look after. You made sure everyone and everything was taken care of at the right time. The owner is lucky to have such a good host. Though this was our first visit, we felt like friends. Now it feels like a home away from home.
