Newport City Inn and Suites

The Jay Peak suite was roomy and comfortable, but sleep was a problem. Bright light from the huge “Newport City Motel” sign right outside came through the blackout curtains, which didn't block it effectively. Better window coverings would make a real difference.

We won't be coming back. The location is central, but our room smelled like urine and wasn't clean. Puke sat on the second floor balcony for days and dripped down into the parking lot. We put the room service request sign on the door and got no service. At checkout, we were told we had to fill out paperwork to request it, but nobody told us that at check-in. Why have the door signs, then? We asked for a refund, even a small one, and were refused. The person at the desk showed no concern or sympathy about our disappointing stay.

We stayed three nights while skiing at Jay. The beds were better than we expected, and the rooms had everything we needed. The hotel was very clean, and the pool was one of the few hotel pools I'd actually consider swimming in. I'd stay here again if I passed through Newport.

For a less expensive room right in town, Newport City inn & suites is a good option if you're in the Newport area. I've stayed twice, four nights total. The rooms were clean and well maintained, and the staff were friendly and helpful.
