The Chanler at Cliff Walk

Every staff member we met was friendly and welcoming, and I’ve never had service this attentive. Calvin and his mini me Jacob at the front, Annie our restaurant waitress, and the courtesy chauffeur Craig(?) all stood out. Craig gave us a lovely tour of the city. The hotel feels cozy and warm, with incredible views and beautifully designed rooms. We stayed in the Louis XIV room. The restaurant was amazing too, and the Chanler omelette is one of the best I’ve ever eaten. It used to be a Gilded Age home, and sits on the cliffs with easy access to the cliff walk. I’ve stayed at fine hotels all across the country, and this one really stands out. I hope I can come back again in my lifetime.

The room felt like home, with a fireplace, a spacious shower, and the coziest bed I’ve had away from home. The outdoor hot tub was lovely and clean even in the cold months, and its jets made for a bougie bubble bath. Everyone we interacted with was courteous, professional, and welcoming. The hot chocolate bar was a nice holiday touch, and the complimentary gifts brought me joy each time. This is hands down the nicest place I’ve stayed, and the experience was worth every penny. I’d definitely come back.

The hot chocolate was delicious, and my sisters and I enjoyed the views from the Adirondack chairs outside. The bar staff were friendly. It was very quiet, though, with no Christmas music, and we’d hoped for a more festive atmosphere. At $15 for one cup of cocoa, the price was absurd. We’ll pass on the event next year.

The hotel and location look amazing, but this review is about the hot chocolate bar. With timed tickets, we waited in line for more than 50 minutes and still had another 20 or more minutes to go, so we left without even trying the hot chocolate. One worker was making drinks and taking payments, poor guy. Moving the line inside didn’t make it move any faster. We’re locals, but won’t be rushing back. Management needs to make changes and do better.
