Econo Lodge at Military Circle

I couldn’t take a shower or bath because the water was cold. For $70 the first night and over $80 for each of the next two, that’s a lot to pay and still not have hot water, clean towels, or toilet paper. When I went down to ask the manager on duty for toilet paper, she was very rude. She claimed housekeeping had cleaned my room when they hadn’t even come, then told me never to come down and ask for toilet paper again. I’d like compensation for the terrible service.

I booked online for a second stay and then got charged $150 because they claimed I’d stolen a blanket. I didn’t. I went back and forth with the manager and was cursed at and treated disrespectfully. She was especially rude, and the whole thing felt very unprofessional. These people love to lie about you. Avoid this place.

The room was grim: badly painted gray walls, no art, cheap furniture, thin rough towels, a dirty feeling floor, and sheets that looked as if they might not have been changed after the previous guest. I spent two nights here. On the second day I was gone from early morning until early afternoon. I saw a housekeeper with a cart on the other side of the building, but she never came to my room, so the bed stayed unmade. I still had an extra scratchy towel and washcloth, at least. The neighborhood gave me a sketchy, unsafe feeling, and the parking lot had shirtless men sitting on the outside steps. The place looked like something out of "Breaking Bad." I booked it for a business trip because it was cheap and had a decent Expedia rating. I’m not a hotel snob, and Hampton Inn feels fancy to me, but this place felt like somewhere you’d be held hostage. I was glad to have a concealed-carry permit and felt more secure carrying a handgun with me. To be clear, I was never assaulted and never felt in danger, but the general atmosphere made me feel I should be prepared. It’s cheap, but I wouldn’t recommend it or stay again. Next time I’ll pay a little more.
