Residence Inn by Marriott Norfolk Airport

The location is super convenient, but I wouldn't bring my family back. The place is in bad shape: rooms aren't maintained well, the wifi is unreliable, the phones don't work, and breakfast was poor. It also took some scrambling to get clean sheets and an extra blanket for the sofa bed. It feels like there aren't enough staff to do more than keep the lights on and mostly cover the front desk at night. I stayed here a few times in 2019 and it was perfectly fine. I don't know if the owner is just running out the franchise agreement clock and planning to leave Marriott, but it's a shame to see.

I was here for a recent jewelry event and only saw the checkout area and event room. The carpet needed attention, and dirt was plainly visible on the ceiling vents. They should know it's in plain sight. Totally unacceptable!

I come to this area often for work and picked this hotel because it was convenient to the airport. It isn't convenient to much else. My last stay at another Norfolk location was awful, so this one seemed like a better choice, but it still had plenty of issues. The biggest problem was that nobody cleaned my room during my entire nine-day stay, even after I brought it up with management and the front desk. Most of the staff were very nice. One front desk lady with glasses was extremely rude when I asked why my food delivery had been sitting there for 20 minutes. How hard is it to make a phone call and help your guests?

They gave us last-minute notice that the water would be off from 8am - 2pm, on top of everything else. As an ambassador of Marriott, I'm appalled. The general manager should be embarrassed to represent this place, and housekeeping needs retraining right away. The room phones didn't work, and our room was never properly cleaned. They remade one bed but didn't vacuum. There was still hair in the shower, and one towel had already been used, so we folded it again ourselves. The housekeeper even left her dirty rag in the bathroom without cleaning it. I don't want to touch anything in the room. I'd honestly feel better at a motel 6.
