Motel 6 Norwalk, CA

Booking was easy, and the room was cheap. It didn't look bad, and the bed was nice and big. But we walked in to lots of little cockroaches in the restroom and some in the bedroom. We'd booked a nonsmoking room, yet it smelled strongly of cigarettes. I went to tell the front desk so I wouldn't be wrongly charged for the smell, but the woman there thought I wanted a smoking room. She kept making excuses, saying the smoking rooms were only a few doors down, which was why ours smelled that way. We stayed anyway. Just be aware that they don't provide shampoo, conditioner, lotion, or anything like that. You get two bars of soap, so bring your own toiletries.

This was my second stay, and both times I had problems with the room not being clean. While I was asleep, the curtain fell down and they had to move me. The bathroom vent didn't work, leaving the ceiling covered in mold. The room hadn't been cleaned either. A woman had to come back and clean up after the person who supposedly did it. It was disgusting, and even she was grossed out by how nasty he'd left it.

I came with my family for a visit, but this didn't feel like a safe place for them. The room had a strong, horrible cigar smell as soon as I entered, and cockroaches were scattered around. There were mold stains on the door and microwave, and worst of all, bloodstains on the bed sheets. I don't recommend it.

I love it here. It's family oriented, kid friendly, and pet friendly. I'm a Black woman from Tennessee and have had some racist experiences at hotels here in LA, but not here. Everyone is really friendly to everyone, which is a big plus for me. It's definitely affordable too, with lots of stores nearby.
