Motel 6-Oakland, CA - Airport

The staff were friendly, helpful, and accommodating, and the manager helped too. My room was clean and in very good shape, with new fixtures and comfortable beds. It was what I expected. There was some noise at times, possibly because I was on the ground floor beside a thruway with the ice machine. I knew before booking that this was the kind of hotel where commercial travelers with big trucks stay overnight. All in all, I’d give it five stars.

The room was clean and the beds were comfortable, and I appreciated the security guard at the gate and the ample parking. Staff were friendly and very helpful. It’s a no-frills place, and my stay was nice except that my non-smoking room smelled like smoke. There was only one towel, but housekeeping happily brought more when I asked. The towel racks and toilet paper holder were missing.

The price was good, but the quality was terrible. I wouldn’t stay again. We’d booked last minute for a music festival and needed somewhere just to sleep and shower. We were from out of state and didn’t know the area. The location felt sketchy, with two abandoned hotels down the street. There was a security guard at the entrance whom we had to check in and out with, and my friend and I felt we were constantly having to explain that we had a room. The room was adequate, though the floor was sticky and it smelled strange. Housekeeping did come each day. The loudspeaker announcements, morning and night, telling people who weren’t renting rooms to leave were shrill and unpleasant. On checkout day, the front office called two hours before checkout to ask what we were doing. We’d planned to sleep in a little, but decided to leave right away and spend those extra two hours at the airport instead. Staff were rude. I’d rate it 3/10.

We were able to get a room right away even though we arrived a little before check-in time. The front desk person was friendly and great, and both arrival and checkout were quick. Our room was smaller than I expected, but very clean. It was also within walking distance of the coliseum where we were attending an event. I’m glad we stayed here and would book again for future events.
