Motel 6 Ocala, FL - Conference Center

My room looked nothing like the corporate-produced photos and was very dirty. The bed was made, but the sheets were clearly dirty and hadn't been changed after the previous guest. The folded towels were obviously used and dirty too. There were roaches, and despite being a nonsmoking room, it reeked of cigarettes, vape, and weed. I counted the days and hours until checkout. Leaving gave me a pretty good idea of how it feels to be released from prison.

A very odd check-in. On Saturday night, the clerk said she had no keys but could walk me to the room and let me in. We got there and found it was already occupied. At least she was very nice, apologized, and said she'd refund my money. She wished me luck finding another room.

Horrible. We arrived to check in at 3pm, and a rude woman at the desk said the room wasn't ready and she didn't know when it would be. We came back at 10pm and got into our room. The desk people were drinking beer. There was a lot of mold in the room, which they'd tried to hide by pushing the beds together. The sheets had cigarette burns, and the room stank of cigarettes and mold. There was no shampoo, conditioner, towels, or phone. We argued with the desk staff and were told we'd have to call management for a refund. After driving from New York that day, we had to scramble to find another hotel. Disgusting. Do NOT stay here. The people are rude and the rooms are disgusting. They should pay you to stay.

At $60 a night, expecting more than a roof and a bed feels pretentious to me. My car full of stuff was left alone, and if you don't bother people, they won't bother you. The hotel is a little sketchy, as other reviews say, and it definitely isn't for everyone. If you can't handle the vibe, pay a little more.
