Residence Inn by Marriott San Diego Oceanside

My son had a great birthday here, with a few friends coming by to celebrate his grinch day. He has Special needs, and since I was out of town, I booked through a third party for him. The staff were very polite, kind, and accommodating with check-in and billing, and they worked through every problem with us. They understood what I was trying to do for my son. Great place.

We were glad we took a chance on the Residence Inn by Marriott San Diego Oceanside. A family member got sick on our arrival day, Christmas Eve, and we had trouble finding anywhere to stay. After leaving another sketchy hotel nearby, this was a relief, and we'd return. Our two-night room was comfortable and had the essentials for a longer stay: shampoo, conditioner, body soap, dish soap, plates, utensils, a coffee maker, couch, desk, and TV. The internet wasn't great for streaming. Breakfast was hot and kept us going until dinner. There was no waffle maker, but they had breakfast sandwiches, crustless quiche, coffee, tea, juice, milk, Greek and other yogurt, oatmeal, bagels, bread, muffins, and condiments. Pet owners were welcome too. We used the pool, fire pit, and gym a lot. The location was close to several restaurants, including our family's favorite pizza place. Renovations were underway, and I'm excited to see how the rooms look when they're done. Seeing several United States Coast Guard members staying here made me proud of the accommodations. I'd recommend it to friends and family. Shout out to Kelly and Brian, who looked after us and handled any issues.

The breakfast and service were great, and there are restaurants and a bar within walking distance in the parking lot. The Italian restaurant next to the hotel had amazing food and service. The rooms were decent, though a little dated, and our sink was clogged. It cost more than some hotels by the pier, but we were there for a stay-and-play tournament next to the SoCal soccer complex. The bar's music could be heard in our room all night, until about 2 a.m.

The location is convenient and parking was readily available, which were the best things about this property. The rooms were just okay for nearly $500 a night, and breakfast was basic with few choices. There aren't any in-room safes. The front desk has a few safety deposit boxes, but the larger ones were full. One seemed free, but the desk said staff were using it, so I guess guests don't count. Poor value for the money.
