The kitchen was roomy enough to cook in, and the bathroom had clean towels. Beyond that, our stay in the Neptune Inn at Alouette Resort, Old Orchard Beach, ME was rough. The floor had a huge black stain that dirtied our feet, and the furniture was ripped and stained, like dumpster finds. The fixtures looked like they hadn't been updated since 1970, in the worst way. The bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. Two single beds were in the front room, which had no AC and got extremely hot in the morning. I borrowed an iron from the front desk, and it left a black mark on a nice shirt. Trains are noisy all over Orchard Beach, so I can't really blame this place for that.

We left a day early because the room didn't feel right to us. It was poorly maintained, with dirt and stains under the mattress, a burn hole in the countertops, and carpets that smelled damp and musty. The front door didn't seem to close tightly when locked from outside. I'd love to share our pictures. I think the owners should be embarrassed to charge $500 for two nights, and I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel.

We paid over $500 for two nights and expected a clean place, but ended up going home after just one night. The first room smelled of marijuana and tobacco despite being a non-smoking room. They granted my request to switch rooms, but the second wasn't much better: it smelled musty, had stains on the box spring cover, and burn holes on the counters, again in a non-smoking room. We never slept under the covers because the beds felt dirty. I regret not complaining about the second room. I worried the box spring stains might be bed bug stains. I'll never stay here again and don't recommend it to anyone.

We were in town for a wedding, and most of our group stayed at the Alouette “Resort.” We were at their other location up the road, Neptune hotel and “Suites,” and couldn't believe we paid more per night to spend two nights in that dump. It cost almost $300 a night, but the place was filthy and very outdated. The counters and table were sticky, and the floors turned our feet black. The bed was hard and uncomfortable. If you're a light sleeper, trains go by between 1 and 3 am with their whistles blowing, then again around 7:30 am. We've stayed in OOB many times, and this was by far the worst place we've tried. I don't know what qualifies these places to be called resorts and suites. There were hazards everywhere, and OSHA should visit both locations. Check-in was fast and the woman who checked us in was very friendly, but the price wasn't worth it. I wish I could share the videos we took.

I was so let down by the loft. It's run down and dirty, and I can't believe the board of health allows it to operate. The first thing I noticed was a ripped screen and weeds growing over along the side of the building. The stairway carpet was stained and filthy. There was no kitchen sink, just dusty, rusty chairs. A laundry sink sat in the hallway, with chipped paint and stains. There was black stuff in the bathroom floor grout, and the window air conditioners were full of dust. Parking was limited. If you don't mind walking, you can park half a mile away for $25 and walk back.
