Residence Inn by Marriott Omaha Downtown/Old Market Area

Having both the fitness center and business center available around the clock made it easy to keep to my schedule. My suite was spotless and well maintained, with a full kitchen and great Wi-Fi. The staff were consistently courteous and professional, and went out of their way to make the stay work well. I loved the character of this Downtown Omaha hotel, the beautifully converted Old Federal Building. Its 1930s Stripped Classical/Art Deco architecture has been preserved, including details like the grand vault doors. It brings history and comfort together, with modern amenities and outstanding service. I highly recommend it.

We checked in that night and left the next morning in full uniform, with our KCM/TSA badges visible. We're flight crew, but were charged an “early departure fee” that cost more than the night. They refuse to refund it because they “didn't know we were flight crew.” No one told us about a checkout fee either, though she had two chances to mention it. I'm a Titanium member, and my captain and I have 45 years of combined stays at Marriott properties. Neither of us has encountered this before. If you're flight crew, go elsewhere and find a Hilton.

My mediocre rating is mainly because staff didn't explain that the parking pass doesn't work in the city-owned structure right next door. There's a different garage across the street. That missing information cost me $109 in unexpected parking fees. It seems other people were told, but neither I nor the three guests near me at check-in were. The room was organized and cleaned often, the location was great, and breakfast was good. There was some noise from the nearby fire department and EMS, with sirens and revving city cruisers all night.

My husband and I had no problems during our stay, and the hotel was clean. Our room was clean too. Jayonna, the young woman at the front desk, was professional and personable. She helped carry our luggage and bags to the room, and when I wanted olives, she checked whether any were available.
