Clarion Inn & Suites Across From Universal Orlando Resort

The room door wouldn’t close properly, which made us feel unsafe, and the room itself was dirty. We stayed four nights for a volleyball tournament booking. Though advertised as a hotel, it’s actually a motel, and we paid nearly twice the normal rate. We never got clean towels or room service. Strong cooking odors of roasted onions, garlic, and curry filled the hallways and got into our room, leaving our clothes smelling awful. There were no towels at the pool, and the water wasn’t heated. There also weren’t on-site dining options like a restaurant or bar serving standard American food. Staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. We repeatedly asked to speak with management but never managed to. For what we paid, this was a very poor stay. I’d strongly advise people not to spend their money here. We’ll contact the volleyball organizers and ask them to remove this property from the tournament hotel list.

The location was great, and the beds were comfortable. We also enjoyed having a well-kept pool and hot tub. In the room, though, the fridge was tiny and there was no microwave. The only shared microwave was often locked away, so it wasn’t much use. Rooms are cleaned only every three days, which meant tracking down towels and trash bags and emptying our own bins.

We got a great price, and the location was perfect for Universal. It was easy to get to other places too. The front desk let us check in early and were very friendly, explaining the restaurants and the cafe in the lobby. Our room was clean and fully stocked. This is our new favorite place to stay in Orlando.

When the owner first responded, they spelled my name wrong. They also said they didn’t have an elevator, so I’m guessing the front desk lied. And if my review seems inaccurate, read the recent reviews. They say much the same thing. This was the worst hotel I’ve stayed at. We booked online, arrived, and were asked whether a ground-floor room was okay because the elevator was broken. I said no, so they put us in building 6 at the very back, facing a busy highway. I was shocked by what they considered a suite. I asked for a room away from the highway and said I’d carry my luggage up the stairs since there were no ground-floor options. The second room was even worse, so dirty I was afraid to sit down. There was mold in the bathroom, patched-up doors, and a dirty smell. I immediately booked another hotel, checked out, and took an Uber there. They said they’d charge one night as a cancellation penalty and that I’d have to wait for an audit before getting a refund. Buyer beware. Spend a little more for a clean place where you feel safe.
