International Drive Hotel

The location was great, and that’s the only reason I’m giving it two stars. The hotel is under construction and used to be a Comfort Inn. One of the two elevators was out. My room had no closet doors, crooked things on the walls, and an ironing board I couldn’t use. Paint was missing on the bathroom doors, and the light in there kept flickering. There was hair on the shower walls, a big wet patch on the floor, and stains in the drawers. It looked like the furniture had been painted in place, since you could see paint on the carpet once it was moved.

Mimi and Annette made this stay memorable with service that went way beyond what I expected. The property was spotless, breakfast was excellent, and the location was so convenient. The price was great for the value too. It’s rare to find all of that together. I’d absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone wanting an easy, quality stay.

There were some good things: a comfortable bed, mini fridge, microwave, flatscreen TV, decent breakfast, and good service. But there were lots of bugs, including tiny mites and cockroaches, and the couch couldn’t be used. My bigger problem is a mystery $25 charge after I prepaid. I didn’t have a car there and was getting around Orlando by Uber, and I can’t reach the hotel because they don’t have a phone number. I didn’t damage or smoke in the room or do anything to the property, so I have no idea why they charged me. Please reverse it. This is unacceptable, and they’re crooks. I’ll change this review if I’m reimbursed; otherwise I’ll post bad reviews on lots more sites. Have a nice day, just not there.

The building is in a great spot, with tons of places a 15-minute walk away. The lobby has plenty of space, somewhere to eat, and a fireplace to sit by. I skipped breakfast. The carpet in my room was a little worn, but the room was nice. What do people expect, perfection? You have to pay for that. I found it clean and well located. Parking gets crazy on weekends because the hotel shares a lot with several businesses, including a busy nightclub. On busy nights you might not find a spot, and I’m not sure about towing. Some spaces say they’re only for certain businesses. There was no real front desk person most of the time, though most staff were friendly. The man at the desk just stares instead of smiling or saying hello back. I lost a star over the lack of a microwave. I only book hotels with both a fridge and microwave, and I couldn’t stay more than two nights without one. I didn’t have much of a view from my room. My deposit came back within 24 hours. I’d stay again, but next time I’ll make sure there’s a microwave.
