Lake Eve Resort

We had a very similar stay here last year and hoped that had been a fluke. It wasn’t. We’ve had high-quality stays at other Blue Green resorts in Daytona, St. Augustine, and New Orleans, but this Orlando one gets 0 out of 10 from us. The service, maintenance, and hospitality were appalling. We’re Blue Green Vacation Club members, and we’d rather pay full price at another Orlando resort than return here. The suite wasn’t the one we requested when we booked a year ahead. When we raised it, the reply was, “well what do you want me to do? We're full.” It was listed as fully handicap accessible, yet furniture that couldn’t be moved made it hard for my wheelchair-bound mother to enter. The bed was too close to the master bathroom door for her to reach that bathroom or turn her chair. The other bathroom had no shower curtain, and the master shower’s curtain was moldy. The sofa bed had no fitted sheet. Across three calls to the front desk over five hours, we heard, “we'll send it over when we can”, then “wasn't it already delivered?”, and finally “we don't have anyone to bring it over. You can walk up the hill to the main building and get it from the front desk yourself or wait until morning.” It was midnight by then. The water stayed warm rather than hot even after running for more than five minutes. My daughter spotted an oily substance on the ironing board before it could ruin my dress clothes. Dust, mold, and sticky floors and counters made the whole suite feel dirty. Palm fronds hung over the balcony rail and made a third of the deck unusable.

The apartments are spacious and generally well kept, with a kitchen and living room in every room. The beds were comfortable, though the pillows felt too firm to me. We had trouble with a few things: our dryer screeched, and sometimes the dishwasher needed a second cycle. Staff were very helpful when we spoke with them, but WiFi support was awful. We paid an extra $8 a day for faster internet, and my parents still barely had a connection. Getting around the property could be frustrating too. The elevators would randomly stop working, and we once waited up to 10 minutes for one with enough room for a scooter. There are only six accessible parking spots, three on each side of the entrance, and carts sometimes get left in nearby spaces. The entrance to Lake Eve's lot is easy to miss because there’s no sign by the road. Since joining The Fountains, they’ve also removed the little lobby shop, so now we have to walk to the main building for basics. At least in the Lake Eve section, it doesn’t feel worth it anymore.

I gave The fountains a 2/5 mainly because of this building and how guest services and room services handled concerns. They were dismissive and slow to respond. I’ve posted a separate review of the resort with the full details, including the problems here and why I was disappointed.

The master bedroom bed was hard as a rock, and I didn’t use the jacuzzi tub because it hadn’t been cleaned. When we arrived, none of the bathrooms had been cleaned, the hard floors hadn’t been mopped, and there were potato chips in every room. We called the front desk; about half an hour later someone came up and gave the floors a quick vacuum, but didn’t mop or clean the bathroom. When we complained again, they only said they’d tell housekeeping. The building outside badly needs paint, and the pool wasn’t anything special. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a LUXURY resort in Orlando.
