Residence Inn by Marriott Orlando at Millenia

The hotel was quiet, and I didn't hear people in the next room. Housekeeping seemed to be around all the time, the fragrance in the lobby was lovely, and check-in was easy. Doreen was professional and nice. Breakfast gets crowded fast, so I'd go downstairs early. I enjoyed the stay, but the $19 daily parking charge doesn't make sense to me. I didn't see anyone patrolling the lot for security, and I parked in a handicapped spot outside the front doors each night. I think the extra parking fees should be removed.

The spacious room had a nice view, and the hotel was accommodating and quiet. The lobby scent was lovely, and check-in went well. There was a small issue at checkout, but they corrected it. The room charges were higher than the guaranteed nightly rate shown when I booked through Marriott's website, and they changed from day to day. Housekeeping would come for a "touch up," so I had to gesture for them to clean the whole room. They "claim" they don't speak English. The $19 daily parking fee is ridiculous. I'd stay again if they dropped it.

Breakfast is a madhouse here. The hotel has so many guests, but the breakfast area is too small, making it hard to get food or find a table. They also stop serving coffee as soon as breakfast ends. I stay 40 to 50 nights a year at Marriott hotels, and this is the only one I've been to that doesn't have coffee available all day. Even the toilet paper is annoying. It's so thin you can see through it, and it won't tear on the dotted line. I wanted to like the hotel, but all these quirks have me unsure whether I'd stay again.

The hotel is in a good location and seemed to be in good shape. I didn't see any major issues, and Cameron arranged a courtesy upgrade a little early because of my Titanium Elite status. He could have made me wait until I arrived to process it, but handled it when I first asked. Still, I wouldn't stay again after what happened with my two back-to-back reservations. The first was covered by a free-night voucher from my Marriott credit card. Bad weather delayed me until 3 a.m., just two or three hours before the next day began. A support agent said the hotel could check me into my second reservation early, cancel the first, and refund it so I could get the voucher back. Instead, the hotel checked me into the earlier stay and kept both my voucher and the payment for the second booking. I raised this with Ops Manager Cameron. He didn't contact Property Support to help and sent me to Bonvoy Support, who couldn't do anything once the stay had been closed out and reported as revenue. When I asked today if he could make it right by giving me the free night if I extended my stay, he said his system wouldn't let him and sent me back to Bonvoy Support, who were no help. The early upgrade was appreciated, but it doesn't make up for losing the award night for a three-hour stay that could have been handled as an early check-in. I wish I'd been able to enjoy the full stay I paid for.
