La Quinta Inn Oshkosh

The trail passes right alongside the hotel, which was a nice little extra, and there's a Two brothers diner just a few feet away. The location also puts you close to the freeway and downtown Oshkosh. Check-in was quick and easy, and the clean room had all the promised basics: a smart TV, mini fridge, microwave, hair dryer, and small toiletries. Free breakfast is included, though I didn't try it. All in all, a great experience.

I've traveled for work across several states and stayed in hotels almost every month for years. I know delays and technical problems can happen, but this was one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had, and I wouldn't recommend the place to anyone. I had driven for more than 30 hours and was physically and mentally exhausted. I booked online so I could get a room, rest safely, and continue my trip. Instead, front desk employee Krystal was loud, aggressive, rude, and completely unprofessional from the first interaction. She said the system was “under audit” and I'd have to wait around 30 minutes. When I calmly explained how long I'd been driving and how exhausted I was, she replied, “I don’t care about that.” She kept raising her voice. I asked her calmly to lower it and speak respectfully, and she told me to leave. When I asked for a manager, she repeatedly refused to give me any manager contact information. After I insisted, she gave me the front desk number and falsely said it was the manager's. I called, and the phone rang right in front of her. Less than five minutes later, although she'd said check-in would take at least half an hour, she was suddenly able to process it. Then she charged me an extra $55, calling it “early check-in.” I stayed only because I was too exhausted to argue more or look for another hotel. I was treated disrespectfully, denied access to management, misled, told to leave, and charged extra, with no empathy or concern for my well-being and no attempt to help. That's not hospitality, and I would never recommend this hotel.

The woman working in the breakfast area was a gem, and I couldn't have asked for better hospitality. Oshkosh La Quinta's general manager Andre Wilson was especially refreshing to meet. He's down to earth, enthusiastic, and wants guests to enjoy their stay. Any business managed by someone like him would be pleasant to visit.

The breakfast was excellent, the best we've had at any motel, and a great perk. We had a nice, quiet stay and got the rest we needed. It was our dogs' first time in a motel, and they behaved very well. We found a good dog-walking area at the back of the motel as we were leaving, though it was a long walk from our room. We'd stay here again if we need lodging in the area. The one thing that bothered me was the TV remote. I couldn't get the volume up or down, so we turned the TV off while Wayne was talking on the phone and needed to hear. Marilyn Bodway
