Pacific Grove Inn

The happy hour and breakfast were both amazing, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our rooms were small, but that makes sense in a building with so much history. They felt cozy and full of character. There’s no elevator, though the staff kindly carried our luggage to the third floor. It’s a quiet, lovely place with a cozy, good vibe.

I booked through Airbnb and got the room pretty cheap compared with nearby places. It was spacious and clean, and comfortable enough that I'd stay here again. I should've paid closer attention to the shared refrigerator. I'm not sure how soundproof the walls are. I heard other guests' footsteps, but didn't hear them talking.

We had a small snag with the door code, but check-in was otherwise easy. Staff answered by phone and were very responsive. The woodwork is amazing, and the place was spotlessly clean. Our second-floor deluxe king had a fairly comfortable bed, a gas fireplace, and an antique armchair with a footstool. The common dining and living areas are spacious and nicely decorated with quality reproductions. This is a historic hotel with a large common area, not a B&B. The Keurig and shared refrigerator were just what we needed for our overnight stop on the way home. Max’s Grill down the street is wonderful.

The night clerk answered the windows quickly and got me a AAA discount, which was a nice surprise. I hadn't planned to stay, but stopped after spending the day in Monterey, California. The room was clean and a good size, with a comfortable queen bed. It had a desk and vanity, chair, two nightstands, a short drawer stand, TV, small fridge and microwave, and a nice counter by the sink. The toilet and shower/tub are in a separate area, which is convenient when one person is getting ready at the sink while another uses the bathroom.
