Singer Island Inn

The location is excellent, and that’s the only reason I’d give apartment 13 a star. My husband and I stayed for a week, and everything was dirty, including the walls, floor, and towels. There weren’t any kitchen utensils. The bedroom’s only light was connected to the ceiling fan, and to turn it on we had to climb onto the very high bed and unplug it there. Even one star feels like too much.

Just yuck. The entry was dirty, hoses were lying around outside, and the chairs were old and battered. There was a lot of mold. It felt very sketchy. We were right behind the tennis courts, and a floodlight shone through broken wooden slats onto the bed. The kitchen lights flickered, the faucets leaked, and there was nowhere in the shower to set shampoo or soap. We couldn’t turn off the ceiling fan. The only mirror was in the bathroom, which had no outlets, so good luck doing your hair. I gave it two stars because at least it was clean. We stayed three nights and got no housekeeping at all, no towels and no garbage removal. Nothing. I texted “management” to say I wasn’t comfortable with the broken slats right over the bed, where people could see into the room, and didn’t even get the courtesy of a reply.

Getting the door code was a hassle. We booked the “luxury apartment” through VRBO for Nov 13-15, 2025, and the check-in instructions said to contact the host at least 24 hours ahead. I messaged through VRBO the morning before, but heard nothing for nine hours. The host didn’t answer when I called. VRBO chat kept directing me back to the host, and when I called VRBO, they tried and couldn’t reach the host either, then told me to keep trying. Another customer service number they gave me couldn’t help. We flew to Florida hoping for the best, and eventually the host sent the code. Inside, there was toothpaste spit in the sink and hair all over the floors. My husband lifted the bed blanket, and it was disgusting, with hair, dirt, stains, and random debris. It looked rumpled like someone had slept in it. I have a video, but it wouldn’t let me upload it. The photos don’t show how bad it was. We booked a hotel right away. I can’t leave a VRBO review because, “[my] booking was made through VRBO, and the property is originally listed on Expedia, there unfortunately isn't an option for [me] to leave a review on either platform.” That’s ridiculous. The earlier reviews were sorted by “most relevant,” which I guess VRBO takes to mean “best,” since I didn’t see any negative ones until I sorted by date and saw the most recent reviews. I suppose it was my fault for not noticing the sort order. We won’t use VRBO again, and I hope this review reaches anyone thinking about staying in this awful apartment.

Don’t spend your money here. We booked through VRBO, and there’s nothing luxurious about it. One bedroom’s light wouldn’t turn on because the pull cord was missing. Bedroom two had no pull cord for the fan either. It was 31 degrees outside during a cold front, and heat only worked in one bedroom. The living room had none, and bedroom two’s thermostat was faulty, heating for a minute and then shutting off. The remote for the AC screen was broken, so we couldn’t even tell if it was working. The TV in the second bedroom had no cable or anything at all. To get to the bathroom, you have to walk through the first bedroom and disturb whoever’s there. The place has no soundproofing. We messaged the staff on VRBO that the apartment was 48 degrees inside when we got home, but they never replied. The cleaning lady was very nice and helpful. I’d give zero stars if I could, and I’ll be seeking compensation.
