We’re here for a hunting trip with our mini Aussie, and I really appreciate the pet policy. The rooms are decent for the price, but the friendly, helpful employees are what make this stay better than the other hotels nearby. I’m very pleased so far.
The parking lot has been fixed, and management is working on the hotel. It’s an older place, much like the other hotels around here in the same price range, and they all need some work. Red Roof Inn Parkersburg wv is an okay, reasonably priced spot to rest. The cheapest room I found was $300 for the night, and there weren’t enough easy women around.
The worst part was getting there and driving through the parking lot. There were huge, deep potholes everywhere, more potholes than pavement, and it was really hard on my vehicle. I’ve stayed twice. The room wasn’t awful, but it felt worn and shabby. The beds seemed clean apart from one having cigarette burns in the bedding and the other having what looked like ink stains. The bathrooms were extremely small and badly needed new tubs and other work. The room phone didn’t work, and the heating and cooling unit was very noisy.
We left after only a few hours, even though my fiance had booked two nights. The front desk manager/owner confronted her about the amount of traffic going in and out of our room, and had also questioned me when I was leaving, asking what I was doing. We’re new to the area, and I had gone out four times to keep appointments to look at rentals for our move. I understand some places have problems with drug activity or other illegal behavior, but the way we were monitored made me feel like a criminal, and the behavior felt almost hostile. I’d never stay here again based on this experience. Others may have had a good stay, but this was hands down the worst experience I’ve ever had with a hotel and its staff.
At checkout I needed a receipt for work, but I rang the bell over and over before anyone came. The receipt wasn’t on my app, and they hadn’t applied my Redi Rewards number, so I had no receipt or points. I then spent another 15 minutes with Redi Rewards Services fixing the missing points. When I arrived, the man told me the woman ahead of me was from corporate. I wondered if he’d shown her the rooms, because I already knew mine was missing a lot. It had been sparse before, but this room was barren. No light bulbs in the lamp, and the comforter was for a queen bed, not a king. I chose a Superior King mainly because I wanted a coffee maker. There wasn’t one, or an ice bucket, cups, chair, iron, soap, hair dryer, or tub stopper, which was a problem since I like to take a bath. The parking lot had so many potholes it was ridiculous. He said people steal things, but they need to replace them or shut the place down. There’s hardly anything left in the rooms that could be carried off. I travel for work and could stay anywhere, and I’m not paying, but I just want somewhere clean with the basics. It doesn’t need to be fancy, just somewhere to sleep with what you paid for. I can’t stay there again. The TV came on to what seemed like a fight channel, and I couldn’t change it or turn it off. The fire alarm was chirping too. I told the front desk I needed to switch rooms, and he said he’d fix things. He put batteries in the alarm and brought me a new remote. The man who runs the place is helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. I enjoy talking with him and like him, but the hotel was bad enough that I drove an extra 20 minutes today to stay at a properly run Red Roof. The place could be so cute, with the picnic tables, creek, and its tucked-away setting, but it needs a lot of upkeep, repairs, and replacements. I was told a corporate woman had been there, and I wondered whether she’d been shown the rooms because so many things were missing. When I checked out, the wait at the desk took 15 minutes I didn’t have.
