OYO Hotel Petersburg VA I-95 & E Washington St

We left after an hour and a half. Cockroaches were crawling over the walls and floor, and there was old trash under the bed, on the floor, and in the nightstand. The stained sheets and comforters looked unwashed. Both pillows were lumpy and stained, with no cases. My boyfriend and I started feeling itchy through our clothes after sitting on the bed. The bathroom was filthy, with black mold above the showerhead, and no toilet paper, soap, or towels. People hanging around outside our door concerned us too. I've been trying to get a refund, but nobody has helped. The company's service is unacceptable.

The staff were very kind and helpful, and made room for us and our Service Animals. But the surroundings felt so rough that we needed a few minutes after getting out of the car to adjust. There was a tense atmosphere, with what looked like drug deals and other sketchy behavior happening nearby. This isn't a place for children, and the online pictures don't match what we saw. Our room looked uncleaned, there was a wet towel in the tub, and there was constant noise and activity late into the night. We woke to banging and shouting from the next room. It sounded like a fight, and like someone might have been stabbed or hurt. It was a horrifying stay, and it changed how we think about Virginia. I ask people to avoid this place.

I only stayed two nights because I had no better option. I was looking for an apartment, and pet-friendly hotels were booked. I didn't want my babies left cold in the car. The building felt unsafe, was poorly kept, and had bugs everywhere. My room smelled awful, and someone broke in and stole my belongings, including the microwave and refrigerator. There were people I took to be drug users living there. The staff weren't dressed professionally, but they were nice and helpful. The room came with almost nothing, no towels, toilet paper, or soap. The only thing in the toilet was old urine. The area was horrible. Petersburg doesn't seem to take care of the town, and it reminded me of the projects.

There were roaches, stained bedding, and a chair I was afraid to sit in. The bathroom counter looked like it might fall on one side, and the tub was so nasty I bought supplies to clean it before using it. Outside the motel, all you could smell was pot, and it was loud. I stayed seven days and never got clean towels or a room cleaning. The pictures need updating. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
